The Charter

Not just an app.

Most apps ask you to trust them, then change the rules whenever it suits them. We are writing ours down instead. This is our Charter: a short list of promises we hold ourselves to, bound into Just2Bucks’s own governing documents and published here so you can read them and hold us to them. We are two people building something small and honest, and these are the commitments that keep it that way.

1. We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell, rent, license, or hand your personal data to anyone. The only outside services that ever touch it are the infrastructure providers that store it to keep the app running, and they have no right to use it or share it. Selling user data is the business model we are reacting against. We will not have it.

2. One ad on the free tier, and no pop-ups

The free tier shows at most one banner ad. Never more than one, never a pop-up, never a full-screen takeover. The paid tier has no ads. In-app features do encourage users to upgrade to the paid tier (Unlocked) but there is only one paid tier at a reasonable price.

3. We give at least 10% back to your community

We are giving away 10% of net profit. With help from users, we’ll select local queer-focused nonprofits and queer-owned businesses and put real money back in your community.

4. No deal can change these promises

We are building Just2Bucks to run it, not to flip it. Over a company’s life things can change: leadership can change hands, ownership can evolve, and outside money may someday make sense. What cannot change is this Charter. Any such deal, investment, debt, acquisition, or a change of control, comes with one non-negotiable condition: it cannot make a material change to the promises on this page, and it cannot give anyone the power to make one later. A deal that would really mean giving up control of your data or of these promises is a deal we will not make. Before any such deal closes, the independent lock described below gets built first, and these commitments come with the company: a future owner inherits them, never the option to drop them.

Get on. Get off. Give back.

Right now these promises are published here and are being written into the company’s own governing documents, which makes them real commitments we cannot casually walk back. We are honest that this is not yet the strongest possible lock: the strongest version puts a veto in the hands of an independent party so that not even a future version of us could quietly change the rules.

So we commit to build exactly that. We will retain legal counsel to put a permanent, independent legal structure in place, one that keeps this Charter from ever drifting, when either of two things happens, whichever comes first:

  • We reach 10,000 paying members, or
  • We take on any investment, debt, acquisition, or change of control, in which case we build the lock first, before the deal closes.

You can verify us on the public record: JUST2BUCKS LLC is an Illinois company, file number 18294648, searchable on the Illinois Secretary of State business database. This Charter is not a privacy policy or terms of service; it complements them.
